Remakes are the order of the day, and with the amount of money riding on these movies, it would only make sense for the audience to want some of the most memorable movies made into a new one by any of the grittier and more intense directors around today. We look at the three movies that would make for interesting Bollywood remakes today.

The epic Bollywood movie to end all stories, Khuda Gawah was a film ahead of its time, and unfortunately, the audience couldn't appreciate the film. Starring Amitabh Bachchan as a passionate and straight forward Pathan who achieves his love, and then gives it up for a promise to a police man, the movie has Nagarjuna, Shilpa Shirodkar, Kiran Kumar, Danny Dengzonpa and Vikram Gokhale playing some of the most stellar characters of modern times.

Khuda Gawah is famous not just for the direction, but also the art direction and action sequences. The high octane climax is something that was rarely seen in Bollywood movies with box office collection. In fact, the entire movie is peppered with what can be considered to be epic sequences. Danny Dengzonpa also played a career best role as the trusty Pathan's aide.

If you thought that a flawed protagonist was something that has come recently to Bollywood, think again. Sport stars Govinda as a police officer who finds out that he was suffering from a deathly disease, and has a few days to live. The police officer is now troubled about how his family will make their ends meet after he dies but finds out one day that if he dies on duty, his family will make more money. He now has a death wish, to die on duty, and because of this, the corrupt and cowardly cop pits himself against some of the biggest goons in the city.

Of course, because it was a nineties movie, it is found out that there was an error in the medical tests, and therefore he is hale and hearty, but that can be twisted a bit to add to the dark and ironic movies that are making their presence felt in Bollywood today.

Every year, there are a couple of movies that pass unnoticed at the Box office barometer, and even the critics cannot do justice to the film at the end of the day. Not just the concept, but the screenplay and direction were so brilliant that people somehow failed to understand what the movie was all about. Others might say that Dor is the movie that made Gul Panag, but we think it is her subtle performance of a typical housewife that would endear her to people, more than the Dor character. This is the career defining role for Abhay Deol, and if you haven't seen him in this role, you haven't seen him anywhere.

The striker is one of those unfortunate movies that launched during a sudden bandh, and the film never caught up on Saturday. The film stars Siddharth and Aditya Pancholi in a career defining and redefining the role and is hard hitting movies that gave people a brutal and realistic look into the world of crime in the seventies, eighties and nineties. The film was set in Malad Malwani, two areas that have been routinely used in Bollywood films, right from the iconic climax in Don to the place where one of the main protagonists in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion lived, but nobody has been able to capture the squalor and culture that Malwani has.

There are movies about childhood, and then there are movies about childhood that leave you with a lump in the throat and praying to God that time travel is invented, discovered, made available to the public, or whatever. Bubblegum is one of the latter movies. It is not too much to say that Bubblegum is the most underrated movie of the decade, which is funny because other movies that had half a good script and talked about childhood became blockbusters.

Bubblegum speaks of a group of children who are growing up in Mumbai in the eighties and gives the inkling of their daily lives, their issues, their problems, and of course, their joys. The movie will surely leave you emotional, and these are the kind of movies that make people make profiles on Social Networks so that they can find their friends.
