We all know the game; there are some people in a company who might be the best in the business at what they do. At the same time, there are others who don't have such strengths – but ultimately ooze confidence.

Who gets promoted? It tends to be the latter.

Confidence is a gamechanger in the workplace. It's the thing that takes you that step further, and also allows your peers to notice you.

Unfortunately, some of us don't have it naturally. This is why we have penned today's article and we will now review some of the best steps you can take to lift your confidence when you go to work.

Take control of your imperfections

For some of you, this won't be an issue. However, for others, the tiny blemish or imperfection on your body can have monumental repercussions when it comes to your inner-confidence. You feel as though everyone else is honing in on that one point - and it hinders your career.

Well, it doesn't have to be like this. As well as changing your mentality from the above, tackle the problem head on by visiting a plastic surgeon. Sure, it might sound drastic, but it will put an end to the matter and allow you to really come out of your shell at work.

Constantly push yourself out of your comfort zone

It's not a nice feeling - but it's the same rules for everyone. Even for the guy who seems ultra-confident at every opportunity, there will be instances where he feels tiny and is thrown completely out of his comfort zone.

The big difference here is that some people will venture out of this zone and eventually become comfortable, while others will reside within it for a lifetime.

If you get offered a project which is a little out of your scope, take it. At the same time, volunteer yourself for anything which should help your career.

"Fake it until you make it"

It's become an old saying in the self-help field, but it's something that works like a charm. You might feel as though your confidence resembles a big fat zero at some points in your career, but you don't have to let everyone else know this. Even though you don't feel confident, portray it in every possible way. Over time, you'll soon find that this becomes natural and suddenly, those earlier confidence woes have been alleviated.

Acknowledge your success

You know as well as anyone if you have performed particularly well at work. It might be by netting a new client, or it might be through some more direct feedback such as a positive appraisal.

It’s in these instances where you need to acknowledge and applaud yourself. The problem with people who lack confidence is that they never celebrate their own successes, and this obviously doesn’t do anything for themselves. By doing this, it will be a subtle reminder that you are good at what you can do, and you can hopefully take this forward and demonstrate in more forthright terms to others.
