Have you been swiping all day but struggling to get a good match? Tinder has blown up in the last five years or so, and the number of people there is staggering. There's now a dating site for everyone, including for over 50s, just for people who work out, and black dating sites.

Tinder is still one of the most popular dating apps out there though, and is used by people all across the world for hook-ups and to date. Try implementing just a few of these tips when you start getting matches.

  1. Work on your opening lines.

Once you have matched with someone, your opening line can mean the difference between a good first conversation and being ghosted. Most people either don't try hard enough, or try way too hard. On one side, you're probably not going to get very far by just saying ‘hi' and leaving it at that. On the other hand, don't try to start a conversation with some hard-hitting political or philosophical debates. A good place to start is by having a good look at their profile and commenting on something in their bio or pictures. This shows you've actually taken an interest in them, and is far more natural than trying to be too smart.

  1. Work on your bio.

As mentioned, it's a good idea to check someone's bio before messaging them. For someone to know if you're a good fit or not, you need to have something in your bio that gives a flavor of your personality. Don't go on too much, but add in any hobbies or interests that make you, you. From a group of female Tinder users that were recently surveyed, it was found that they were 98% less likely to swipe right if they had a bio.

  1. Connect your Instagram.

You can now connect your Instagram page to your Tinder profile, so people can go on and find out a bit more about you. This is great, as Tinder gives you quite limited options to express who you are. By connecting your Instagram, people can learn a bit more about you, and you're better able to show your interests and likes.

  1. Pick a Sunday evening to swipe.

According to Tinder, the time that most people are active is on a Sunday evening, so try going on at this time to maximize your odds. Don't worry too much though, as you can match with people at any time.

  1. Don't give out your number too quickly.

It's a good idea to start to transition away from the app once you've chatted for a while. It can be an excellent way to show you're interested, but try to keep things on the app to start with. If the conversation begins to go to a place you don't like, or is just offensive, you can use the app to report people and use the messages as evidence. Once you're off the app, this is much more difficult.
