Hi,I am Enrique B Pauly as a travel expert and outdoors advisor. Sharing a most important Fishing Guideline and Tips in your selfgrowth website.

Fishing is a sporting activity you can do whether you're a child or an adult, but before going to catch your first fish, I will like to share with you some basic tools and tips you might need to help make your first catch easy and fun.

Before you go fishing, some basic fishing tools to have are:

  1. Fishing Boat:

If you're looking into fishing beyond the shores or banks of a river or a lake, then this should be the first tool to have. The essential part of fishing is the search of where the fishes are in order to get a great catch.

Much like you will do with your fishing rod and reel, when getting a boat, it is important to know what the boat does and how it performs. Getting a wide boat is better because it adds stability and also has enough space to add electronics, electric motor and those kinds of things.

Tip: When looking for a perfect boat, don't forget the width, quality, good solid frame and don't forget the trailer

  1. Fish Fillet Knife

A lot of people like to use the traditional knife to fillet a fish but it just makes it easier when you use the right tool which is a fish fillet knife. For those of you who don't know what a fillet is, it is basically the boneless cut of a fish. A fish fillet has a long narrow sweeping blade makes it more efficient when it comes to scaling a fish or even to fillet a fish.

  1. Fishing Rod

When getting a rod, you should look out for the power, length, and action of the rod. These are the basic characteristics of every fishing rod and it is found at above the reel seat of every rod. The power of the rod tells you how much pressure it takes to bend the rod. It is measured on a scale from ultra light all the way to extra heavy. The action is where is flexes along the blank and it ranges from extra fast all the way to slow.

The most common action you will find by most rod manufacturers is the fast action. The length of the rods ranges from 6ft to 8ft. Longer rods give helps you pick up more line and cast farther while shorter rods helps in skipping dogs and lay-downs when accurate casts are needed.

Tip: When testing a rod, hold the rod by the handle and place the rod down on the ground in such a way that the tip barely touches the ground, and hold on to the reel seat and apply a bit of pressure. What this will do is, you will be able to visually see the action and power of the rod.

  1. Fishing Reel:

A fishing reel places a key role when it comes to stowing and winding lines. They also help with accuracy when casting at a distance and also used to retrieve lines. When it comes to choosing a beginner fishing reel, there are two choices recommended which are, the push button type and the spinning reel.  Most people choose the spinning reel over the push button even though you get the same problems over time such as line twist, with the spinning real, you're able to see the problems earlier and it's also easy to fix as compared with the push button reel.

Tip: It is important to stay within your budget when buying a fishing reel for the first time. There is no need buying a $200 reel as a beginner or even when you can't afford it since the basic function of all the reels is to cast in and bring back in fishes. You should be just fine buying a reel above $20 but close to $50

  1. Fishing Net:

If you're looking a large catch then a fishing net should do the job for you. For live fishing, using a fishing net is the most efficient and productive method of putting more and larger fish into your boat.

When choosing the right net, knowing the right net such as the hand net, cast net, Chinese net, gill net, drift net, stake net among other. Also, you might also want to look out for the right weight, size, and mesh size.
