I have two very important questions for you:

1) Do you dream of becoming a success?

2) Do you fear becoming a failure?

Now let me share an important truth with you: You are a complex creation of talents, intellect, inspiration, intuition and personality.

Now let me share ANOTHER important truth with you: If your small business brings home six figures or more this year, you will not transform into a new being called “A Success.”

You will be successful (assuming making a great deal of money was your goal), but you will still be you. By the same token , if you end the year with no clients, wondering whether you’ll be closing your doors forever any day no w, you are still you.

And one more important truth for you: If the worst happens, your identity will not be transformed into a dismal creature called “A Failure.”

The Power of the Mind: “I Failed! . . . Now What?”

Ok, and one more important truth for you: You will fail many times on your road to success. It’s part of the formula, in fact.

Accepting this helps you to take advantage of the Law of Attraction by using the power of your mind. The key to success is knowing how to handle failure. Denis Waitley once said, “To establish true self-esteem, we must concentrate on our successes and forget about the failures and the negative in our lives.”

So here’s a thought … Why suffer through a negative experience, endure the disappointment of failure, if you’re simply goi ng to forget about it? You have to embrace your failures as part of your education. Remember the power of your mind and choose to capture the lessons you’ve learned.

The failure can’t – shouldn’t – define you, but it should grow you. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Your Call To Action:
So when you’re met with failure, how should you respond?

1. Don’t be surprised or shocked to fail. Sure, you didn’t expect to fail this time. If you had, you would have gone a different direction. But you need to expect to fail sometimes.

2. Failure inevitably stems from risk-taking. Imagine yourself as having a risk-taking muscle. Flex it. Regardless of the outcome, every time you flex that muscle, you strengthen it.

3. If you are daunted by the idea that you’ll fail, make yourself a little chart – the way your mom did when you were five. Instead of “pick up toys” and “tidy bed,” your chart should say – “Failed.” Yes. Failed. Every time you fail, put a sticker on your chart. You can’t fail if you don’t try. You can’t succeed if you don’t fail.

4. Throw yourself fearlessly forward . . . into becoming. A marigold seed cannot, under any conditions, produce a sunflower. A puppy will not grow into a pony. And you, full of purpose and creativity, will not “become” a failure. You are the embryo of all of your endless potential. What use are you to others if you aren’t everything you’re meant to be?
