Are you so busy doing the urgent that there is no time left for the important? Sometimes life just gets in the way of you creating the surroundings you want, which directly relates to the future you create. Life can throw up road blocks in the form of endless appointments, caregiving to others while meeting career and home demands. What about the little things, such as the unfinished projects in your house or the areas that are falling into disrepair?

It’s those little things that can trip you up in the grand scheme of things. If you are so busy you don’t have time to create and care for your surroundings — the surroundings that provide you peace, encouragement and empowerment — it is time to take a second look at those nagging household issues that keep cropping up.

Feng Shui Principles Provide the Foundation for Empowerment

Feng Shui principles hold the key to getting back in control of your life and energizing the future you desire. When things are broken, chipped, leaking, not working properly or in disrepair, you will find that various aspects of your life such as your relationships, your income generation or your health might also suffer.

Try visualizing what it feels like to be your house and have leaky pipes, hinges that creak or be constipated and feel bloated with too many stacks of stuff on tables, in closets and corners. If your house were a human it would be seeking out a good urologist, a doctor specializing in arthritis or intestinal tract disorders. While a house may be an inanimate object, it too needs to be in good repair to function properly and have a flow of clean pure prosperity energy throughout. It is only under these conditions it can serve you well, protect you and provide you a sanctuary from the outside world.

Home Repairs that Energize You

Schedule a semi-annual tour of your home to evaluate its well-being. Keep a notepad nearby so you can keep a running list of those little, or maybe not so little, annoying things that keep happening to your home when you are busy. Put this home walk-through on your calendar so you don’t forget about it. Below are some examples of what you might find and how it affects your wellbeing.

• Carpeting has faded or sun-rotted areas and is thread-bare by your sliding door: depending on what area of your home this is taking place, it could be symbolic of relationships coming unraveled or income fading away.
• Toilets and faucets are dripping or running: besides the cost and waste implications, the old saying “you are pouring your money down the drain” applies. In Feng Shui any open drain or dripping water (unless in a water fountain) means the loss of money.
• Cupboard door handles and drawer knob broken or not properly working: this could indicate you cannot get a handle on life or grasp the bigger situation.

As things crop up and need repair or even a major overhaul – get it done. For example, the carpeting by a sliding door can easily be remedied by pulling up a one foot section of rug along the window and replacing it with tile instead of replacing the carpeting in a whole room. It provides you good energy and gives your home a needed facelift.

Everybody puts up with things now and then that if left unrepaired, will become a large annoyance and perhaps a reminder that other aspects or your life might also be suffering, unfinished or not the way you’d like them to be.

If you take an unattached view of your home as you do your walk through, you may find many little things that need fixing, perhaps projects that you’ve been putting off for years. Just remember, your home is a mirror image of you, so this is an interesting way to learn whether your thoughts and actions are in alignment and properly reflected in your surroundings. Clean it, fix it and replace it so that mirror image is an accurate reflection of you today or empowers you to become the person you wish to be.
