From Farms to Delivery, Drones are Popping Up Everywhere!

Drones have taken over the world and are becoming an important tool for a rising number of industries. The days when the best drone technology was limited to the military is long behind us. Consumer Drones are becoming a mammoth industry on their own. The drone industry is expected to be worth $13 billion. The number of drones in the market is expected to hit 7 million by the year 2020, a clear indication of drones' growing popularity and importance. Here are some of the industries that are truly benefiting from drones:

Law enforcement

Law enforcement agencies have increasingly turned to drones to better their public service. Police forces have recently become huge supporters of using unmanned aerial vehicles and the results have been quite amazing. Some of the tasks drones have been used for by the police include monitoring large gatherings to ensure law and order is observed, gathering evidence in crime scenes through cameras, monitoring traffic and helping with the search and rescue of lost individuals. Drones have even helped save lives by locating people who would have otherwise died after getting lost or suffering from accidents.

Real Estate

This industry has been on the front line of using drones and has received a lot of support from the FAA. Real estate companies have found the use of drones to be a very effective tool in capturing the beauty of a property from different vantage points. This was a real estate strategy that was previously done with the use of very expensive footage captured from helicopters. With the use of a drone, stunning real estate videos and photos can be obtained at a fraction of the cost and time previously available. Real estate listings that have used drone footage have been observed to sell faster and to attract interest from more buyers than those that rely on traditional photography.

This was one of the earliest adopters of drones and the results have been great. Aerial photography hasn’t been the same ever since drones were introduced. Drones give the photographers the advantage of great aerial shots that bring out the beauty of the scene from a bird's eye view. Drones are now being used to film by movie studios and have greatly lowered the cost and improved the efficiency.

Agriculture

Farmers have also reaped the benefits of drone use in a great way. Farmers who have expansive tracts of land are the ones who stand to gain the most as they now have an easy and cost-effective way to monitor their land from the comfort of their homes. The agriculture industry is set to save $1 billion annually from the use of drones. Farmers can spot diseases before they spread, monitor for when the crops are ripe to harvest, monitor the effectiveness of pesticides and even take better stock of their livestock.

Delivery

Amazon was among the pioneers of this and is working on a drone delivery system for its customers. Other companies are getting on board as well including Walmart and Domino's Pizza. In the future, delivery of retail items and food ordered from restaurants may all be done via unmanned aerial vehicles. This is however still in its planning stage. For it to become widespread the FAA would have to allow retailers to operate beyond the current line-of-sight regulation.

Construction

Drones are also finding a fertile ground in the construction industry. They are being used to conduct land surveys, inspect buildings and even bridges for any weaknesses so that they can be attended to promptly. Engineers are also able to inspect construction sites effectively and can monitor the progress of any project and ensure that those on site are upholding the highest standards.
