Nothing is everything. Nothing is that absolute. The next time someone tells you that nothing is impossible ask them to dribble a football.

However, your attitude does play major roles in everything you do, what you become, and how happy you are. We see everything through the filters in our mind and attitude in one of the biggest filters.

Ben Sweetland, America author, said, “The world is full of abundance and opportunity, but far too many people come to the fountain of life with a sieve instead of a tank car—a teaspoon instead of a steam shovel. They expect little and as a result they get little.”

People don’t get what they want in life, they get what they expect. Our expectations set the limits and when they are low … low is the very best we will get.

Zig Ziglar, American motivational speaker, said, “You were born to win, but to truly be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.”

And the founder of Success Magazine, Orison Marden, said, “Your expectations open or close the doors of your supply. If you expect grand things, and work honestly for them, they will come to you. Your supply will correspond with your expectations.”

Our expectations are formed in the planning and preparation stages of achieving. It is our investment in time, effort, and thought that determines how much we expect.

An error often made is refusing to plan because we are afraid it won’t matter anyway. People doing that are setting their sights based upon what little they have, rather than on what they could become. In most cases the upper limits are beyond anything we can even imagine. We do have amazing minds with unlimited abilities; however, most people use their mental resources to dig deeper holes.

There isn’t a hole deeper than your ability to climb out of it. How do I know? Because of all the people who have gone before us, many climbing out of some really nasty ugly deep holes. Our holes always look bad … because they are ours. Once we look to see what others have done, we discover that we are the lucky ones.

Luck results from preparation. The more prepared we are the luckier we become. Through a process of planning and preparation our attitude shifts from doubt to expectation. When we honestly work hard for something … we begin to expect it.

People who don’t understand this, those who refuse to plan and prepare, are actually planning to fail … and they don’t know it.

Attitude may not be everything, but it certainly sets the stage for everything else.
