Do you feel like you are moving through your life in a daze, lacking motivation and enthusiasm? Have you ever looked back at the end of the day and realized that nothing you did inspired or motivated you? Have you ever become angry with someone or some event and then later wondered why you felt the way you did? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then this article may be just what you're looking for to help you create a life that is more fulfilling, inspirational, or stimulating.
Very few people are truly aware of the thoughts that they have in their own minds. Most thinking is habitual, automatic and unconscious. When these habitual and unconscious thoughts are positive in nature the outcome is good. But if your habitual thoughts are negative, this can cause problems.
You can imagine your unchecked mind being like a small child who accepts and takes for granted everything he/she sees and hears without any critical thought. If you continue to allow your mind to work this way you will quickly become a slave to your reactions instead of a master of your actions.
Your subconscious mind is constantly flooded with ideas and information that come through all of your senses. This information can come from newspapers, TV as well as other people, and occurs whether you are aware of the process or not. If left unchecked this flood of information can easily become your way of thinking.
The information that is stored in your subconscious mind has a direct influence on your behavior in the form of actions and reactions. It influences your choices, as well as your likes and dislikes. In short, this means that you could actually be allowing outside influences to control you.
If you are like most people, you believe that your thoughts originate from your own mind. Have you ever considered how you determined your desires, likes and dislikes? Have you ever wondered why you like a certain car? Was it because someone told you it was fast, reliable and a good buy and you believed them? Or was it because you checked it out, drove it, or you compared its cost to other cars? Much of the information at the subconscious level is recorded and unconsciously accepted as your own. When you have made a decision that you trust someone or a certain source of information, then much of what you receive from that person or source will bypass the critical factor of your conscious mind and be recorded as fact. This is very much like what occurs in hypnosis: a competent professional hypnotist will introduce new information in the form of hypnotic suggestions. If these suggestions meet the criteria of safe and believable they will be recorded in the subconscious mind as fact and immediately begin to gather more information to support the new way of thinking creating rapid and often permanent changes.
An example of a common thought that creates problems in so many people is the thought that you have no "willpower". In nearly every case this thought was learned from someone or a source other than yourself. If the thought, that you have no willpower, goes unchecked it begins to wreak havoc in your life. The more your mind repeats this thought, the stronger it becomes until it quickly becomes a belief. Regardless of whether it is true or not, it will have no effect on the results that you experience. You then become enslaved to miss-information.
So by now you may have begun to see how your own thoughts could be enslaving you. When you allow other people's opinions and ideas, judgments and beliefs to enter your mind unchecked you are literally turning over the control of your life experience to other people.
Everyone has ambitions, desires and dreams that have been fostered from childhood. They may have come from a book that you read, a story that you heard, or even from a parent, a teacher or friend. The exact same source of influences can create fears, disabilities and self restrictions if accepted uncritically.
To reduce the power of outside influences and thoughts on your life you only need to become more aware, or conscious, of the thoughts and desires that you allow to become a fact in your mind. Begin to analyze your motives and actions and you will be surprised to find that many of them are actually controlled by outside influences.
The good news is that you do not have to accept each and every thought and idea that you receive. You can easily learn to check or analyze your motives and actions simply by conscious thinking. This means you take the time and think on purpose. You ask yourself whether you entertain certain thoughts and act and react a certain way because you decided to do so or because you automatically accepted outside influences.
Learn to be free, do not accept every thought that you encounter as true. Ask yourself first whether it is for your own good to follow that thought. This may be difficult to do on your own because of the many beliefs that will block the information necessary to support this change. This difficulty would explain why many people that chose to use hypnosis to make positive changes in their life have reported that it was unbelievably easy.
If you want to be the master of your mind and life, you should not let other people's thoughts, desires and motives rule your life, unless you consciously choose so.
