With increasing age, health issues are also increasing. One of the most common problem in males is prostate enlargement. This problem mainly affect the aged males. It is most commonly seen in age of above 60 years.  Prostate enlargement is the problem of prostate gland in which prostate gland is enlarged. It is also known as Benign Prostatic Enlargement (BPE). Prostate enlargement causes the narrowing of urethra which further creates the urination problems.  There are various natural Ayurvedic home remedies which are good for the prostate enlargement. Prostate enlargement is associated with frequent urge of urination, blood in urine, decreased urine flow and Continuous dribbling of urine especially after urination.

Home Remedies for prostate enlargement

TRIPHALA POWDER:

  • How to consume? -Boil 1 tablespoonful of triphala powder in 250 ml of water for 20 minutes and then strain the liquid and drink the lukewarm extract. It can be consumed twice in a day.

INDIAN GOOSEBERRIES, TURMERIC POWDER AND HONEY:

  • How to consume?-Take 10-12 gooseberries, remove the seeds and finally crush them. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and 2 teaspoonful of honey into it. Mix all the ingredients and consume one tablespoonful every morning.

CORN SILK:

  • It an effective remedy to fight against the symptoms of prostate enlargement.

How to consume?-Cut the silk from the six ears of fresh corn and Put them in water and boil for at least 10 minutes. Strain it and drink one cup of this corn silk every day.

STINGING NETTLE (BICHU GHAS):

  • It is known to be very useful for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

How to consume?-Add1 teaspoon of dried nettle leaves into a cup of hot water. Keep it for 10 minutes, and then strain it. Consume it 2 times every day.

SITZ BATH:

  • It is an effective and soothing home remedy for enlarged prostate enlargement. This hot water bath is good for the relaxation of pelvic muscles, promotes the healing and reduces swelling.
  • Directions- Take two tubs and one is filled with cold water and other is filled with hot water. Add ½ cup of Epsom salt into warm water tub and few drops of lavender essential oil into cold water tub.
  • Firstly sit in hot water bath tub up to your waist for 3 minutes, next sit in cold water bathtub for 1 minute. Repeat it two times. Remember that last sitz bath is always in cold water bath tub.
  • Take this sitz bath at least three times in a week.
  • Note: Do not follow this if you are suffering from acute bacterial prostatitis.

PALM SEEDS:

  • The seeds of palm tree are also good   for the prostate enlargement.

How to consume?–Consume half teaspoon of palm seeds powder.

GARLIC:

  • Garlic is packed with the essential vitamins and essential minerals like zinc which are quite beneficial to maintain the good prostate health.

How to consume?-Mix one tablespoon of garlic and one teaspoon of honey in Luke warm water and Keep it for five minutes.  When it is dissolved completely then consume it. Consume it two times in a day either before taking breakfast or before going to bed.

WATERMELON TEA:

How to consume?-Cut a watermelon into pieces and remove the seeds and place them into one eight portion of cup. Add watermelon seeds into boiling water jar and then Strain the tea and leave it for cooling. Drink one cup of tea daily for at least 10 days.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE ADVICE:

  • Limit daily fluid intake to less than 2,000 ml.
  • Limit or avoid alcohol and caffeine.
  • Limit beverages in the evening. Avoid drinking fluids after your evening meal.
  • Try to urinate at least once every 3 hours.
  • Stay active. Cold weather and immobility may increase the risk for urine retention.
