The medical college has been named after Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the architect of Modern India and also recognized as SP Medical College Bikaner. The medical college in initial was called Bikaner Medical College and was inaugurated by the 1st Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking MBBS Admission in one of the best medical colleges in India i.e. Sardar Patel Medical College Bikaner must have
• Completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of MBBS admission.
• Passed HSC examination (Academic Stream of 10+2 curriculum) of any State/CBSE/ISC or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with the group of subjects like - English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany & Zoology) / Biotechnology and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying Entrance Exam.
