TYPES OF OBESITY

Though there are multiple classifications of Obesity following are some commons groups

I. There are three forms of obesity depending on the area of fat deposition.

• Peripheral: Accumulation of excess fat in the hips, buttocks and thighs.

• Combination of both peripheral and central obesity.

II. There are two types of obesity depending on the association with other diseases.

• Heart disease and stroke
• High blood pressure
• Diabetes
• Some cancers
• Gallbladder disease and gallstones
• Osteoarthritis
• Gout
• Breathing problems, like sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for short episodes during sleep) and asthma

Although the above conditions are most likely to accrue in a person with obesity. It is not compulsory for everyone who is obese has these problems. The risk rises mostly come if there is a family history of one of those conditions.

Diagnosis and treatment of obesity
