Your Front Door: The Key to Opportunities

There are three important areas in your home when it comes to good health, happiness, good relationships and wealth: your front door, your bed and your kitchen. Their location, care and cleanliness will either increase your prosperity and well-being or stand in the way.

According to ancient Feng Shui principles, these three areas of your home form the foundation of your life for maintaining the present and creating the future. This article, one of three, will focus on the front door - the entrance to your home, your life and your future.

Front Door Strategies for Success

Your front door is considered the key point of entry for positive energy, new growth, wealth, happiness, relationships and opportunities. It is the opening to your destiny and the future you want to create. It is also the opening to shelter, and to your personal sanctuary. It provides the ability to enter and exit, and it affects your safety and security, and impacts your first and last impressions.

All forms of opportunity, wealth, career openings and prosperity flow through your front door. As you can see, your front door is a very important component in your strategy for creating the life you want.

Whether you live in a condo, a free-standing home, or a residence with strict homeowners association requirements, there are a number of strategies you can employ.

Be approachable! Your front entrance must be obvious, easy to approach, open and have a clear path to it. If there is anything physically or visually standing in the way of your door, such as too many plants, overgrown landscaping, a jumble of lawn décor items or the lack of a footpath, you are turning away people and opportunities. Without a clear entranceway, all the positive energy, opportunities, wealth, happiness, prosperity, and even guests cannot find their way into your home and your life. Mercilessly clear the path, the space and view around your front door to get rid of stagnation and welcome in the good things in life.

Well-functioning! Your front door must be in good condition and function properly. It provides you physical and emotional safety from the outside world. What follows are symbolic of the personal energy problems created by a malfunctioning door:

• Scrapes on the floor – frustration
• Hard to open – career problems
• Not set properly in its frame – life unbalanced or off center
• Loose or wobbly – instability
• Loose knob – hard to get a handle on life
• Paint chipping – decay or depression

There is no room here for chipped paint, fading colors, squeaky hinges, missing screws and door latches that work improperly. Your front door provides the first and last impressions and reflects the type of success you are seeking. If your door is not working properly, fix it. If the color is faded, paint it. If the hinges squeak, oil them. If you are thinking of repainting your door, red doors are considered to bring luck and green doors to bring health and wealth.

Welcoming! Your front door represents the way you connect with others through relationships, the way you connect with the world and the physical entry into your life and home. Make sure it’s bright, clean and well-lit. If it is too bright and sends all the good things in your life away, tone it down with a softer color or add calming colors in surrounding flowers and shrubs. If it is not welcoming enough illuminate it – add lights, bright paint or vivid-colored flowers.

Nearly everything in your life is affected by your front door. Make sure it welcomes in the good health, wealth and opportunities, keeps you safe and represents the best side of you to the world.
